The FIH Odisha Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023 has drawn to a close and after what was a ferocious challenge with some of the world’s best in the sport, the Malaysia team secured the 13th position in the standing out of 95 countries.

The Speedy Tigers have made us proud by playing their hearts out on the field. Putting their all in the lead-up to the tournament and competing together on the world stage with the same fighting spirit has been truly inspirational and awe-inspiring.

We’d like to congratulate the national hockey team for showing us the meaning of unrelenting team spirit. Special mentions, of course, to our Maybank players and coach:

  • Meor Mohd Azuan Hassan // Midfielder
  • Mohd Razie Rahim // Defender & Flicker
  • Muhammad Najmi Farizal // Defender & Flicker
  • Mohamad Ashran Hamsani // Midfielder
  • Shahmie Irfan // Forward
  • Azrul Effendy // Assistant Head Coach

Thank you for displaying the T.I.G.E.R. values both on and off the field – Teamwork, Integrity, Growth, Excellence & Efficiency, Relationship Building – and showing us all that it takes more than just skills on the field.

Speedy Tigers, your dedication to the game and your valiant efforts have brought glory to Malaysia, and had us all rooting for you with one voice, one heart, and one goal.  Although the trophy may have escaped us this time, your performance struck a chord in us all and we look forward to cheering you on in your next endeavour!

Don’t forget to check out our 3-part docuseries on the story of our national hockey team, their hard work, and aspiration to etch Malaysia’s name at the highest level of the sport.
